On Monday, February 20, LCC 2 and 3 students were able to attend an online conference with none other than Astronaut Joshua Kutryk. On the call, there was not just our school, but there were several schools across Canada. It was an unforgettable and touching experience to have been able to ask questions to this nationally renowned astronaut. He taught us a lot about his story as a little boy and made us understand how the profession of astronaut takes mental and physical strength.
Joshua was born on March 21, 1982 in the province of Alberta. He came from an immigrant family from Ukraine. His dream since he was very young was to become an astronaut. He was a very curious little boy and he was always trying to find the unfindable. It was this curiosity that prompted him to pursue major studies.
He graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
He completed a master's degree in space studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2009, a master's degree in flight test engineering at the Air University in 2012, and a master's degree in defence studies at the Royal Military College of Canada in 2014.
